going back to Win XP pro

I have to revert to XP pro. Her are the reasons. There
are several programs where I need to use the company help
page to contact them - Vista blocks these, making it
impossible to contact them. There are two more programs
which will barely function under Vista, but will be fully
functional under XP pro.

Since I am on a limited budget, I cannot upgrade to the
newest version. I am also in poor health. I call Vista a
"BAD" decision.

I will complete this reversion in the next week.

You should try to install older software using Vista's
Program Compatibility Wizard:

Not sure what your poor health has to do with anything - or why you would
post this in a newsgroup designed to help people with questions on Windows
Vista "security" issues - but I can tell you based on what you have given -
no one here can determine whether your decision is a wise one or a hastily
made one.

Without the name of the applications or what exactly happens when you
attempt to run these unknown applications - you could be spending your time
stepping back in time to fix an issue that may be more easily fixed with a
few property changes... ;-)

Why not list the problem programs and see if anyone here can help?

Maybe After Reading this Tips and Tweaks you'll go back to Vista.
http://unlockforus.blogspot.com/2007/10/windows-vista-unlocks-news-tips-and.html

I switched back to Vista because of this guy... So in return, I helped him
share his
Utility softwares and tips...

Read this:
http://unlockforus.blogspot.com/2008/07/winbubble-spam-internet-geeks-gone-wild.html

This guy made a program called WinBubble, that is for Vista only. Geeks and
Web Publishers helped him to share his tool and in it's peak.

It reached 1,000,000+++ G-results.

Sorry Vista only...

Sorry about your health! Get better!

We hope you didn't come here just to complain. People here are eager to
help make things work properly!

Before upgrading or changing OS', I would always run the "compatibility
checker" as well contact any third party app maker (like the one's who made
the two programs in question) to see what they know about their app and
Vista. The program compatibiltiy mode feature works well in Vista but it is
not a cure-all. There may be updates to those programs that are necessary
for the app to work under Vista.

The company help page blocking can be easily circumvented once we know how
you access the page (through IE, other browser, or other means).

If you already own Vista, you already have the "latest version" so you are
lucky there.. no upgrade required!

That just means that that specific company is badly behind the times;
not that you need to downgrade your OS. Is there no other, more modern
company, that can do a better job of meeting your needs? Or, for that
matter, "blocks" how, precisely? Have you configured Internet Explorer
to allow pop-ups from the web pages in question? Remember, for most
people, web pop-ups are nothing more than very annoying advertisements,
so IE is designed to block pop-ups by default; leaving it up to the user
to allow those few that he/she wants to see.

There are two
more programs which will barely function under Vista, but will be fully
functional under XP pro.

Then they'll very probably also function under Vista's
WinXP-Compatibility mode. Did you at least try? Right-click on the
pertinent application's Shortcut > Properties > Compatibility Tab.

Since I am on a limited budget, I cannot upgrade to the newest
version.

How could upgrading to the newest version of Vista (not that there is
one) enter into the discussion?
I am also in poor health. I call Vista a "BAD" decision.

Unfortunately, you left out any pertinent technical information that
would allow us to offer any specific guidance. Neither your health or
budget, as important as they may be to you, personally, are relevant to
the subject of your post.

Before anyone can offer any useful help, we have to know how you
obtained and/or installed Vista. Did it come pre-installed on a new
computer? Did you purchase an Upgrade license of some Vista edition and
then upgrade from an older WinXP installation, as your subject line
implies? Or did you purchase a full version of the Vista edition and
perform a clean installation? Until we know the answers to these
questions, no one can give you the precise guidance you apparently need.
