Hello group:

I remember a slightly disparaging remark about godaddy.com's server before.
Well, I uploaded my site finally to godaddy and well, my header frame does
not come out. I checked everything with my FP code (unless I missed
something) and the site works all fine on my disk locally. Any comments or
experiences?

You can check it out at http://www.simply3web.com/ and see if maybe I did
miss something. But it all works out locally, maybe godaddy has a problem?

Thanks,
Don

Possibly GoDaddy for buying a domain ... but definately not for web hosting
.... nothing but problems.

Have you installed FP extensions on your GoDaddy account?

It's looking for this file: ../realsite/Bannersect.htm
Do you have that file uploaded?

VBA Project Manager

Yes, I have that uploaded. I can manipulate it on the host site.
.../realsite/ is the folder locally I have the website on in FP. Should it
not be looking just for Bannersect.htm?
This is weird. Like I said, I can get all my frames to work cool locally,
but not on the server. Hmmmmm...

Thanks Eleanor.

What kind of problems? SImilar to this? Or is this event just me.

Thanks for any input,
Don

From what I know, godaddy has FP extensions. So I believe I'm set. I'm
rather new to FP but once you get going on the learning curve, you learn
fast.
I'll have to check with godaddy though. Thanks Steve.

Change the name of Bannersect to something else...some pop up blockers,
spyware blockers, Norton Internet Security programs, etc., will disallow the
word banner.

FP extensions are not installed by default.

Login, Hosting & Servers, My Account, Open the control panel, click FP
extensions.

That did it! Renamed it to something else. Guess the word "banner" should be
avoided in everything. Methinks there would be no Incredible Hulk in the
current cyber-world (David Banner)?

Thanks to all of you. I am still interested in any FP probs. with godaddy
but that might be another subject. Moderators, please advise me on this one.

I have a five accounts that are hosted with godaddy.

Main problem with godaddy is their 99.9% up time guarantee, its more
like 95% up. Mail & website is down a lot more than it should be.
I'll keep my personal sites their but my business accounts are in the
process of being moved now.

Another huge issue for me is their spam blocker. Even though I have
everything turned off and some sites/emails in the "white list" the
emails still won't make it through. I don't need my hosting company
controlling what type of email are allowed into my accounts.

Like Culling said...domain parking but definitely not hosting. This
is a clear case of, ...you DO get what you pay for.

As far as hosting with GoDaddy, I have hit the wall on only one issue
after a few months: Created a subweb with the goal of password
protecting it. Subweb creation was fine, extensions were fine, but
GoDaddy only allows the Admin user on their cheapie plan. Customer
Service sent me the bad news with a solicitation to upgrade my hosting
plan. See below:

Thank you for contacting customer support. The error being referred to
is unavoidable as we do not allow more then one Username access for FTP
access to the shared hosting accounts. We do apologize if this may
cause any inconvenience.

Please let us know if we can help you in any other way.

The next cheapest option with "Full Admin Access" was $35 a month (not
in my budget). Other than that dissapointment, the only other
semi-complaint I have is that I have to login to my main account to get
to the Control Panel. WIth Valueweb the Control Panel login is separate
from the main account so I am able to delegate some of the maintenance
work to another employee here without them seeing my personal info on
the main account,

So, did you move your site?

That message states Godaddy's policy on FTP accounts - it says nothing
about FrontPage extension users, which do NOT use FTP.
