Hi Robin --
This might be more info than you were after, but what the heck, it might be
interesting for others to note that you CAN make a PPT file go directly to
show from a double-click. Windows users can make their own choices about
what program should open which type of file, and which action should be
considered the default for a file type. From Control Panel | Folder Options
| File Types | Advanced, you can change the default of PPT Files from Open
to Show. Once done, double-clicking a .PPT file shows it, and right-clicking
and choosing Open allows you to edit it.
Why the heck would you want to do this, the entire NG asks at once?
I prefer that my presentation notebook be set this way. I normally begin
work on a presentation file on my desktop PC, where I keep the default
conventional: double-clicking a .PPT file opens it for editing. But in my
seminars, with my notebook PC, I might show a dozen, maybe two dozen,
presentations in a day. During Q&A, I might have to sift, on the fly,
through many dozens of presentations to illustrate a certain topic. It is
unusually helpful to be able to show those files just by double-clicking
them.
