When I first installed Outlook 2003, "News" was not in my "Go" menu. I had
to add it. Now it seems to be there sometimes and sometimes it's not there.

To come here and post these last few messages, I had to actually go out and
run Outlook Express to get the news reader. Gotta be a better way. I
searched the MS knowledgebase and came up empty.

To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, click the "Don't ask me again" box and then click the No button.
You may need to reset the menu or toolbar using Tools, customize.

You may need to reset the Menu Bar and/or restart Outlook and/or reboot your
machine in order to complete the process. Not everyone is reporting success
with this method, but try it and see what happens. If all else fails, you
can always create a desktop shortcut to Outlook Express and include the
/outnews switch -- that gives you the same result as accessing the
newsreader via the News command in Outlook.

Thanks, that seemed to do the trick. The option for Newsreader in the
Internet Options > Programs in the control panel was blank.

Now I'll just have to wait and see if somewhere along the line, it
disappears from my "Go" menu again. :) Maybe it had something to do with how
I answered that "make it the default..." question.
