GMAIL and Outlook Express

Can anybody help with this problem?

When I send a message from my Outlook Express, and CC it to the gmail account, the message appears on my GMAIL account on the Web, but GMAIL does not allow OE to get it from there using POP3. Does anybody have a solution to this problem?

Also if I download messages from GMAIL to one of my computers (say, in the office), I cannot download the same messages to another computer (at home). Both computers use OE. Is there a way to avoid it?

Make sure your OE email settings are configured correctly for Gmail - have a look at the tutorial HERE.


Also under the Advanced tab of Gmail Properties, make sure you click 'leave copy of messages on the server' - that way it leaves the message on the Gmail server and can be downloaded to as many PCs as you want.

Of course I did all that. The point is it does not work. If you are using Gmail, you can check it out for yourself.

1. Send a message to yourself. It will appear in your Gmail account, but the OE will not download that.

2. Try downloading messages on two different computers.

I do use Gmail and OE and it works fine for me and I can download to 2 different computers - it must be some incorrect setting at your end.....

In fact I just deleted my Gmail account, and made it again. Now it works fine. At least I can get my mail addressed to myself. I have not checked the two computers problem yet. I did not change anything in the setting of my Gmail account or in the configuration of OE.

I checked: the two computers problem remains. If I downloaded a message on one computer, it won't be downloaded on another one. The message remains in the gmail account (the "leave message on the server" option is checked).

The problem of downloading messages CC'ed to myself also remains. Gmail only allows to download such e-mail if it is not a part of a conversation.

I have asked them two days ago. Have not received any answer yet (its weekend). I checked with Mozilla (Netscape 7) instead of OE, the problems remain. So there is a bug in Gmail.

Another bug: automatic forwarding does not work properly. It seems that Gmail forwards only the first message of a conversation.

I guess somebody at Google screwed things up recently. There was a similar problem with Spam filter in Gmail a few monhs ago. Now the filter works fine.
