Glue on toner- is it salvagable?

My Brother HL-2040 hasn't been printing properly the past few weeks, so
I got some cleaning sheets and ran them through today. That didn't
help, so I took out the cartridge and discovered glitter glue on the
actual toner roll. I got the glue off the metal roller, but I'm not
sure if the toner is salvagable. I know you shouldn't touch it, so I
can't scrape it off. Any thoughts (besides that arts and crafts day and
expensive toner cartridges aren't a good mix)?

Are you talking about the roller in the toner cartridge or the drum on the drum
unit (the drum is slightly reflective)?
The toner roller has a rubbery consistency and the drum is hard.
If there is glue on the toner roller (normally black) you should be able to
clean it with isopropyl alcohol. It is pretty hard to damage if you only use a
cloth dampened with isopropyl but you need to turn the roller to get at the
complete surface using the little gear at the end, it can be very hard to turn
by hand. The drum can also be cleaned the same way but it is important to keep
your fingers away from it and work in a dimly lighted room as the drum can be
damaged by exposure to light, it is also much more fragile than the toner
roller. Under no circumstances should you try to scrape either component, but
gentle rubbing with an isopropyl impregnated cloth should do no harm; you may
have to work at it.
Good luck

I'm not exactly sure which roller still has the glitter glue on it. Is
it the light sensitive roller or on the toner roller (the electrostatic
or magnetic one).

Most glitter glue is water soluble. I would use a wet cotton swab and
gently swab the area with water and slowly swab away the glue and
glitter. Allow the drum to dry off or pat day before reinstalling.
Keep the light sensitive drum away from bright light sources.
