Does anyone know how to globally turn off Outlook 2003 email alert popups
from appearing? I know it can be done manually on each machine but I would
like to turn it off for a select group of users globally if possible. Thanks
in advance.

Not that you don't have the right, but why would you want to do this?

I support a large group of wireless laptop users that mainly use their
laptops for pulling up acre maps and doing their time as well as closing out
tickets on the fly. They do not need to know ever minute that they have
recieved new mail and it was a request from upper management to turn this
feature off for these individuals. I know it can be done manually through
tools, and I know there are about 3 or 4 reg entries that relate to the
feature, but I was wondering if there was a simple way to turn it off for a
select few were talking no more than 100 users. Basically we aim to create
an image for the new ruggedized laptops and deploy them with this feature
disabled in the next few weeks. We will be using a base image of WinXP,
Office 2003, and then add the apps that they would use out in the field.
Personally I agree why would we want to do this, I think it is a cool
feature, but I'm just here to support the customers needs. Thanks again..

The Outlk11.adm administrative template includes a group policy setting to manage that option. Look in the group policy editor under User Configuration / Administrator Templates / Tools | Options / Preferences / E-mail options / Advanced E-mail options / Desktop Alert. The “Check to disable New Mail Desktop Alert†policy setting controls this DWORD registry value:

Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Preferences

Value name: NewmailDesktopAlerts

Value data: 0 = Alerts are enabled (default), 1 = Alerts are disabled
