Is there a way to make global changes to links in
Powerpoint? The original link references are to an Excel
file that resides on a server that is too slow and makes
editing the PPT unbearale. We'd like to make global
changes to the server location in the Link definition to
now reference a different server (same file name and
internal Excel reference, just the change the location of
the file)? Is this possible or do we have to edit the
link definitions (over 70) one at a time?

Thx

Hi Mark,

Click on File, properties, Summary tab to enter a
hyperlink base for all your hyperlinks in a presentation.
As long as the base is the same for all the links, it
should work for you, but you'll still need to edit the
existing links at least once to remove the base portion.

HTH,

Glenna,

Thanks. Is there a way to globally change the base
reference in exisiting links or am I stuck with editing
each link reference individually? I've got over 70 links
in each presentatation and 4 different presentations.

Thx

update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

PowerPoint doesn't provide the functionality that you are looking for
without resorting to VBA or add-ins. Sample code is available in the
Microsoft Knowedgebase to help get you started in the right direction:

PPT2000: Sample Visual Basic Code Changes Source of Multiple Linked Objects

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it's important that
PowerPoint provide this kind of functionality (without having to resort to
VBA or add-ins), don't forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS,
please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submssion includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are ONLY
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
