Does anyone know of a Glide emulator, compatible with Radeon 7500, that
works with Mask of Eternity?

I tried a number of Glide emulators that more or less work with other games
but none that work at all with MOE. The graphics for this particular game
are tweaked for Glide so it is the only game I would prefer to run with the
Glide API if possible.

Hmm... I don't know how to help you with this one accept with a different
kind of suggestion. Have you tried searching Ebay for an old Voodoo 2 for
sale? I bet you could find one pretty cheaply this day.

The old Voodoo add-on video card may not work well in Xp. There has not
been any DirectX 8 to 9 aware drivers recently.

Y.

Thanks for responding guys. I already own a Voodoo 4 AGP card anyway, which
I had to replace. Window's native XP drivers for it supported DirectX but
they have no Glide support at all, which was the whole point of using a
Voodoo. There are 3rd party drivers which more or less work in Glide, and
are considerably faster than the XP driver, but all of them crashed Windows
XP under certain situations. In my case that happened several times a day.
Besides all that, the Voodoo cards don't have hardware support that newer
games require and are too slow now for many games that they would otherwise
support.

Gah! It's one of those situations... it isn't as if I cannot play Mask of
Eternity in D3D/DirectX, but only at 640x480 resolution and with fewer video
options. :(

I'm sorry to hear that you're having so much trouble. This one of those
situations that despite our best efforts on the OS, it would require a third
party to either update the Glide API or programmers who created Mask of
Eternity to re-write the application for Windows XP.

Another option would be to put a cheap 2nd PC together along with that old
copy of Win95/98/ME that you have. I build my own computer so I've usual
got 1/2 PC worth of parts in my closet. I did the second PC option for an
acquaintance of mine who still wanted to play some old DOS games "once in a
while".

Yes. :-) That option will be viable after the next PC upgrade here. Keeping
the Voodoo 4 for when that day arrives. We just retired one PC, but it is
only a 486 and of course no AGP slot. 13 years service, not bad.

Mask of Eternity is a nice game but I always had the feeling that it was
left unfinished. Besides the lower level of support for D3D/Directx versus
Glide there are some maps/levels in the game which seem strangly small and
incomplete. And the climax seems rushed somehow too. Still fun.

Thanks for your input.
