In an earlier Vista release there was a hack that allowed Glass on
unsupported graphics cards. Has anyone found such a hack for beta 2 5384?

Hi Bernie

Yes, there is a hack, but no warranty at all... :-)
Sometimes it makes systems CRAZY slow... and it may not work on all systems
too...

In the registery search for

HKLM\Software\Microsoft

generate a new subkey DWM in it. In this subkey, generate a dword named
EnableMachineCheck. This switch enables / disables the hardwware
compatibility check for the glass interface. 0 means no check, 1 means
compatibility check. If this switch is 0, VISTA does not perform a check and
you are be able to switch the Glass function on.

After this modification, reboot the system. You shut now be able to select
VISTA GLASS as theme.

Stop being so cheap and buy a supported video card. I have cards lying
around collecting dust and don't say they are to expensive because they are
not.

Sometimes peoples economics change and they have to adjust to a new reality. Sometimes those costs are something that was not expected or anticipated. For an example, the there is a huge difference between being a single guy and then becoming a married guy in the budget for toilet paper. For singles guys it is which ever brand does the job. But when you are married, living with a woman changes everything, including the choice of toilet paper and how much to buy. Gone are the days when a four pack of cheap toilet paper would easily last a month or two, your now buying the expensive soft stuff and buying the 36 roll bags at Sam's.

He may have no choice but to count his pennies. It is expensive to maintain a wife. And ten when you add kids and animals into the equation...

Sounds like it is time to throw her out in the street.

You know you're a geek when your wife tells you that you have to make a choice...and you know just how much you're going to miss her.

Online personality assessment done while you wait. Sounds like a business
opportunity! Get some adsense going, could work...

Thanks Martin. Unfortunately it made no difference.

Since the late 90s I've regarded cards with more than 8MB RAM to be
frivolous and wasteful.

But this was a high end thing 64MB.... I have a 128MB MX440 that doesn't
support it either.

I might go and see what ebay has on offer for a tenner...
