hi there,
i work as a network admin. for a company.
it's w2000 adv. ser. domain network
the employees in the company needs to share
files frequently.
i have to do the sharing for them every time.
i want to let them have the sharing option.
also not give them other administration rights.
best regards,
issa

In addition to Pegagus' post - ideally, don't store any data on the
workstations. Keep it all on the server so the admin can control the sharing
and permissions from a central location. Not much point in a domain model if
you aren't taking advantage of centralized storage. Desktops should be
somewhat 'disposable'

- Where do the folders reside that you wish to share -
on a server or on the owner's workstation?
- How are the access rights defined - as share permissions
or as NTFS permissions?

There is also an important security issue that you need to think
about very carefully. In a tightly controlled environment there is
a clear process for folder access:
- There is a notional owner: The nominated user.
- There is a technical owner: The administrator.
- Only the notional owner can grant access permission
to other users.
- He will always do this by a written instruction to the administrator.
- The administrator will act as instructed by the notional owner.
- The administrator will file every instruction issued by the owner.

If you let users grant and revoke access permissions by themselves
then you might as well forget about access control. Experience
shows that users will not keep track of whom they give access to.
Sooner or later information will get into the wrong hands. If you are
lucky then this will be shrugged off. If you are unlucky then you
will be blamed.

Create access groups, and move users into and out of these
groups as instructed by the notional owners.
