Giving rights to a group thru text file

Hi,

I have a group called xyz. There are 10 members in the
group. If i want to change the permissions of any user in
the group is it possible to do so by editing a text file
or a script written for the purpose. The text file or
script should interact with the active directory for the
changes to take place.
