Gimp v2 is shown in the "development version" not under "stable version" so I
missed it the first pass - thanks!!

BTW: they have finished a new version, with a less clumsy interface and
better path tool. Palettes can now be combined (customized?)

I get a file not found message when trying to access the above site, anyone
got a live link?

This seems to be somehow connected with the Mac version of Gimp. This site
also sells MacGIMP and DarwinX.
Maybe the Mac folks are used to paying(a lot) for GPL software? It also
shows up on the Link to Gimp for the MacOSX on the Gimp Website.

Netscape says that 50 users(the maximum) are already logged in.

Is there anything in the licence that would at least demand that they
mention the official site - after all, you CAN sell the "service" of
providing a compiled CD of opensource stuff, for whatever some mug is
willing to pay.

Surely there is a requirement to disclose that you are paying for that
service, and NOT for the software contained?

Their support email (on the page) is:

Give 'em hell!


Ther seems to be NO explicit provision in GPL to cover this abuse
though!

Point 4/6 - they may NOT remove any rights granted by GPL, so other
than for any non-GPL'ed extras provided, you have a right to copy as
stated by GPL.

Point 5 - if THEY violate GPL terms, then they lose their right to
distribute.

Again, the Mac people seem to think that this is ok. Look at
http://www.macgimp.org/
Possibly these guys have done something with the installer for the Mac-but
it is the same site: https://www.archei.com/
that is selling windows gimp.
