Reading the online manual for the Gigabyte 7NNXP motherboard I see that the
processor requires a separate 12volt supply. Is this provided by a connector
from the normal case PSU?

Yes, the PSU should have a 4 pin 12v connector (looks a bit similar to the
main ATX mobo power connector - just less pins).
Yout board may run without this connected, but I wouldn't recommend it. If
your PSU does not have this connector, I would get a new PSU.

Its the little square on that U use and this is a seperate Cpu feed if
you dont plug it in your machine wont fire up!
