GIFs have stopped GIFFING

i have windows XP home, for some unknown reason suddenly my GIF pictures have
stopped animating, anyone know the reason why?

You mean your animated GIF pictures do not show on your screen as animated
anymore...?
Did your viewer (default) for them change?

In other words - what was opeing them so you could see them before and what
is opening them so you can see them now?
What are they 'associated with' - what opens them by default?
