When I receive .gif attachments the only option I have is
to save as a .bmp in My pictures. How do I change this?

Clear your IE cache (tools, options, internet options, delete files) and see
if that helps.

Thank you for the response. I did this and it did not
make a difference. I went into My Pictures, options,
file associations and the .gif is associated with my
Animation Shop but still it only gives me the option to
save as .bmp. Does it matter that this is all XP? At
work I use Office 97 and NT and don't have this problem.
Any more suggestions? I am grabbing my big books to look
at today!! :)

Are you opening the file and then trying to save it, in your associated
application? Can you save the file directly from the message without opening
it and have it "stick" as a GIF?

This isn't really likely to be an Outlook issue, FWIW - more likely a
Windows problem.

What I am trying to open automatically goes to a yahoo
group URL and opens the .gif. It does not give me the
option of just saving it from the message BUT even when I
try to save anything, it only gives me the one option.
Thank you for your time. I will try to look at Windows
settings to see if I can find something there.

So are you downloading your Yahoo mail via POP? I'm a bit confused as to how
Outlook is involved here....again, yes, I think this is a Windows settings
issue.
