symptom: machine partially hangs - cursor moves but can't
start explorer. end task giantantispywareloader in task
manager and everything restarts. reproduces across 2
machines both running sp2 with all current fixes

Since you see this on multiple PC's and it's likely you have the same
anti-virus on both PC's, that would be my first suspect. Start
eliminating whatever software is starting up on both PC's, you'll most
likely find the culprit.
