"Ghosting" a RAID Configuration... Not Supported???

We have the New version of Ghost and when we asked Symantec about hot to
Ghost a RAID Drive they said its not a supported configuration.

Had anyone been able to do it, or are there other options?

We have a Server with a 40 GB Partition and a 100GB partition.

We want to make a backup of the 40 onto the 100.

Are you saying that your server system partition is 40
GBytes and that you wish to increase it to 100 GBytes?
If so then this might be a good time to reduce the
system partition to 15 GBytes and place all data onto
a separate partition. This would solve most of your
problems. It would also provide some additional
benefits.
 
No, the entire system runs fine on the 40 GB partition. the 100 GB partition
was only for Backup.

I wanted to Create a Ghost image of the Main partition and store it to the
100GB backup partition.

We have dell poweredge servers and we use Ghost 2003, from my prior
experiences it is the only version of ghost that works on windows 2000
server. It used to have a IDE raid setup with a dell perc raid
controller and ghost was able to function properly on the partition. I
dont remember if I had to load the raid controller drivers or not, but
try using ghost 2003. Hope this helps.

I would boot the machine with a Bart PE boot CD (www.bootdisk.com),
then use xcopy.exe /s /h /o /c to copy the system partition to the
backup partition. This will give you a complete image of your
system partition that can be used for file recovery and even for
booting (with some minor adjustments).
