I am trying to use Symantec Ghost 5.1c but it tells me
that there is a problem with File_volume MFT and File_log
MFT and to run CHKDSK but Chkdsk does not report any
problems,can anyone help

Paul,
I don't know much about Ghost, but I read in more than one place it's a real
pain to use.

An easy one is called Casper. You can download it and use it for free for a
month or so, but it clones to exactly the same partition size. Say your c
drive is 10 megs, and your D drive is 100 gigs, and you want to clone the
10meg drive to the 100 gig drive, what you get is a 10 meg drive cloned onto
the 100 gig drive, and all the rest is gone unless you buy retail version
that will leave the rest of the "cloned to" drive alone. A workaround for
experimentaion is to make a partiton on the new drive the same size as the
old drive, and then clone it there.
If it works the way it's supposed to, then you can buy
the retail version knowing it will work.

Older versions of Ghost do not work with XP's updated NTFS. Ghost 5 is too
old to work with XP unless your XP partition is FAT32. Try upgrading to
Ghost 2003 or Ghost 7 if you use the Corporate version. I was a die hard
Ghost user until recently. I've began using Acronis True Image and find it
to be an excellent resource www.acronis.com
