I am running Windows XP Professional on a P4 (Gigabyte Motherboard). All M$
updates are in place. The machine seems to work fine. However, the disk
drive activity blinks appx. every 2 seconds... for as long as the machine is
on, even when there is no program loading. Nothing that I can tell is
running in the background. I would greatly appreciate some help in
determining what is causing the continuous disk activity.

You received at least one reply to this earlier. Search for your name or
topic.

Something to try...
In Control Panel click on FIND FAST. Delete the entries, then click INDEX
and CLOSE AND STOP.

Thanks for your kind response. Unfortunately, the "Find Fast" functionality
is already turned off. However, this has not solved the problem.
