my workstation has windows 2000 operating system. daily, at near the same
time in the morning and afternoon, i hear two clicks of the mouse, a pause,
then a loud "bonk" windows warning sound. no error windows appear and i
cannot find a file that has been accessed. i am concerned that some hidden
program is attempting to send information or gain access. how can i
determine the source of this unknown activity?

Task Manager, Event Viewer?

MSConfig

Also try some anti spyware tools such as Spybot

Steve, can you be a little more specific on what i would be looking for in
each of the cases you mention?
Thanks,
