OK this is a bit complicated so stay with me.

My modem works using the usb out line to my computer, but
the network cable out port on it does not. Since the
network out dosent work I cant hook it up to my router and
do a traditional network.

What my idea is is to go from modem using usb to my cpu,
then using internet connection sharing out from my
installed network card to either the xbox or to the
router, and go to the xbox from there.

I've tried this with some variations with no luck yet. I
wonder if some of the problem is on which connection the
sharing is supposed to be done (the usb line from modem to
cpu, or the lan card conn. from cpu to router/xbox). If
anyone has ANY suggestions (besides go buy a new modem),
please throw them my way. Thanks in advance.

Once you enable ICS, it becomes a mini dhcp server so you should be able to
hook the xbox right in and use a hub/crossover cable without an issue. But
your modem needs to be able to handle ICS well, and depending on your OS,
you might have varied success. But what you are trying to do is possible. :)
