When you click the Internet Explorer icon, window may flash a second and quits. Or, it may show an Error-Reporting dialog. This may be due to a malware Browser Helper Object which causes Internet Explorer process to terminate. If you see the Error-Reporting dialog, click "to see what data this report contains" and identify the Module Name causing this error. In most cases, it may be the spyware DLL. Therefore, reinstalling Internet Explorer [in case of a spyware DLL] may not help.
To test with: Disable third-party browser extensions in Internet
Explorer
1. Click Start, Run, and type inetcpl.cpl.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Under Browsing, clear the Enable third-party browser extensions
(requires restart) check box.
4. Restart Internet Explorer.

I have been using Internet Explorer for a few months now,
and all of a sudden I can bring IE up. When I click on the
program, I get the hourglass for a second or two, and then
nothing... I have tried reinstalling IE 6.0 but machine
won't let me, saying that my computer version is newer than
what I am trying to install... What can I do to get IE up
again... I hate netscape...
