I hope someone can relay info or point to some doc that
describes how to getting file and printer sharing to work
between a PC running XP and those that run Windows98. My
2 Win98 PCs see each perfectly but I cannot get them to
see the XP systems nor vice versa. All are on same
workgroup. Connection to each is via Cable/DSL Router
(LinkSys). I can create a specific Network connection
from XP to either 98 pc to a specified folder but only to
that folder's contents. I really want to use file and
printer sharing as is meant to be. Plus, the printer is
connected to the XP system. The 2 98 PCs can't see the
printer to print to.
I've tried setting up WINS. I have enabled NetBios over
TCP/IP, but nothing is working.

Yeah, I'm frustrated too! I'm using a Linksys router and
my win98 laptop can access my XP computer files and
printer, but my XP computer says I don't have a path to
access the 98 computer. I'm thinking maybe I need
a "path" command in the config.sys file pointing it to
that computer. At command prompt, I type "type
config.sys" and there isn't a file, so maybe I need one.
The stupid thing is, the XP computer shows my other
computer in My Network Places. Go figure! But it can't
talk to it, or read any files. Stupid crap!
