Getting XP to Remember Folder Settings on Removable Drives

Whether it is a floppy disk or a USB flash drive, I cannot get XP to
remember each folder's settings: dimensions, location, view (Icons,
List, Details), which columns to display in Details mode (especially
handy when working within a Briefcase), and so on.

When it comes to folders on the hard drive, XP seems to work
perfectly: as nearly as I can tell, every setting of every folder is
remembered flawlessly.

I've already downloaded and merged Registry entries from Kelly’s XP
Korner, and I've already used Tweak UI to increase Folders to Remember
setting to 4,000. However, this seems to affect only folders on the
hard drive, not on removable media.

Am I overlooking something?

Thanks.

I have a similar problem and posted above:

When I select certain folder details (for a folder
containing .mp3 files) using View-Choose Details. The
settings are reset to the defaults within a day or two.
This is annoying. I have tried several registry fixes, but
no luck. Microsoft does not even show this a a bug in XP.

I have never got it to do this with any removeable drive. I don't
think it's a fault. It's just the way it works. Because the drive is
removeable, after it had been removed XP thinks it has no need to
remember.

It does store and read the info though - just doesn't seem to do anything
with it.

Removable drives settings are stored here.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams

Note it does save sort by. Just not Icon style.
