In the process of installing Windows 2000, I get infected
within seconds.

How does one apply all security fixes to a brand new
instalation of Windows 2000. After installing Windows
2000 and going to the Windows Update Page, it is too
late. I am already infected.

Isn't there someway to install a new installation of
Windows 2000 with all service packs and security updates?

The only way I have found around this is to unplug my
network cable, install windows, add ZoneAlarms from CD,
and then connect to the Windows Update page and apply
gadzillon updates and service packs.

You can download updates from Windows Update catalog to use on other computer.
Anyone, particularly with a high speed connection, on the internet needs to use a
firewall these days before going online. Windows XP has a built in ICF firewall so
that user can be protected right away and future editions are supposed to have the
firewall enabled in a default install. For a network, users can use Software Update
Services to manage critical updates from an internal IIS server, though most lans
have firewall at the perimeter already. --- Steve
