Ever since I updated to Windows Media Player 9 (maybe
coincidence but I thought I would mention it) my IE6
crashes on a regular basis. When I go to the menu bar it
will lock up and open up an empty menu and then crashes,
giving me the useless "send error report" message. Also,
sporatically it will just crash without provocation. I'm
getting tired of this, nothing seems to work and since
I've been updating and installing patches from Microsoft
website I don't feel it's fair to charge me to fix it.

any ideas???????
thanks

Yes. Dump IE and embrace MozillaFirebird:

*Always* disable your anti-virus application when installing/uninstalling
anything, especially from an MS page or Windows Update.

Disable all third-party applications, including "system" tools (anything by
McAfee), uninstall Yahoo Companion or Google Toolbar to see if it makes any
difference. If your problems started with installing WMP9, uninstall it.

Rule out malware: Get an run AdAware, Spybot, BHO Daemon, and/or HijackThis.
RTFM before using any of them. Always seeks updates for each application's
reference files before each use.

Primer on using HijackThis: http://snurl.com/1vf8

Good luck.
