Have a new widescreen notebook and cannot figure out how
to present a ppt on the full screen; or if that is not
possible, to get the unused parts of the screen to the
left and right of the presentation to be a different
color than black. Any ideas? Thx

Hi JB,

Try setting the page size to 35 mm slides and see if that
makes a difference. Click on File, Page Setup

I am looking at buying a 15.4 WXGA notebook and just asked that same question - did that work- changing the setting to 35mm?

It may depend on the laptop and its video driver, but you can probably get it
to work this way:

Choose File, Page Setup
Change the slide width to a higher value; the height/width ratio of your slide
size should be the same as the height/width ratio of your screen.

In other words:

New Width = (Video_Width_In_Pixels x Slide_Height) / Video_Height_In_Pixels

Rob,

Good Question.. I don't know the answer!

Powerpoint generally fills the same area as your windows desktop. With one caveat.

If your file>page-setup is set to on-screen....this has a certain ratio 4 wide by 3 tall.

If your widescreen is not the same ratio....then you will probably have a "black area" at the sides.
If your widescreen still follows the same ratio then your all set

Moving the page set-up to a 12.8 width by 8 height for a 15.4 screen worked. Thanks!

I figured it might -- it works that way on my baby laptop with wide screen.

For future reference, what type of laptop is yours?
