Getting started with C++ messenger programming?

I haven't been able to find good resources for programming against Messenger
using C/C++ and Visual Studio. For example, what do I need to reference in
my project to get it all working? Where can I download the .h files, etc,
that are required? Thanks.

I have, and the information is outdated. They have some links to MSDN
downloads but the links no longer work (the posts were from 2003). I
couldn't find the equivalent downloads on MSDN by browsing/searching there
directly. Any ideas?
