I have followed all instructions that I can find and
can't prevent the Getting Started task pane from
appearing when Word 2003 opens. I have chosen Options
from the Tools menu, and clicked the View tab. The Start
Up Task Pane check box is clear. Is there a place that I
have missed.

When, I start work, I want to start work, not clear a
bunch of stuff from the work area.

Please help.

Thank you so very much. The most aggravating thing in
this whole episode, was the when I used the help search,
all the help that I got was a list of 10 reasons that I
should like it!

Ah, when Help becomes Marketing! It's bad enough that the so-called manual
that you get these days (if you get any printed documentation at all) is
full of glowing descriptions of all the neat things you can do without any
suggestion of how to accomplish them, but when this carries over into the
Help file itself... <sigh>
