I recently had to reinstall Win ME. Then I restored my
files. Now I have this problem in FP2002. I can open some
webs, but when I try to save changes to my hard drive I get
the following MS FP message: "Server error. The server
extensions were unable to access the file
"C:\mydocuments\myweb\xxx\_vt_pvt\service.lck." Please
check the file permissions." The same message occurs for
other files when I try to open them. (The file attributes
are alwys either Read-Only or Read/Write.) Any help would
be greatly appreciated.

If you back your web up to a CD drive, then you need copy the web back from
the CD to your HD, then open them in Windows Explorer and remove all
read-only attributes, then open the folder/web in FP and publish to the
correctly location on your HD.

You will also need to do a complete publish to your live site before you can
do a publish with change pages only selected.

If the remote server has the FP extensions, the best option is to forget
about your local backups, and instead open each of the live site and publish
them to your PC, this way when you make any changes, your local and live
copies will be in sync.
