I just installed new drivers (6.14.10.6404) for ATI Radeon Pro 9700 on
WinXP. To do this I also had to install DiretX 9.0b. Now when I scroll
down a page, the text is wavey and jumpy. Also, when I drag a window across
the screen, it has a "ghost" of one or two replicas floating under it. Very
annoying. Is there anyway to correct this?
Many thanks for any suggestions.
John

Uhh, how do I do that, what should it be, and how do I change it?
Newbie, as you can tell.

Okay, found that the refresh rate is 85 MHz, and I can change it, but to
what? How do you determine the optimum value?
Thanks

Set it to the HIGHEST number available.

there should be a setting 'optimal' however your monitor should be described properly above "a XXmonitor on a ATI 9700". This way
the card knows the range of screen sizes and refresh rates for your monitor. If this is not so, go to the manufacturers web sire and
download the 'INF' (driver) file that pertains to your monitor.

85 is not a bad rate really...what screen size have you set it to? In the bios what have you set the 'aperture' size to?...Bios=
the Mainboards setup routine. "hit DEL to enter setup" or something similar at the first screen(post) after the memory check. Be
careful in there, also check that you have 4x-8x (if supported)

I think I got it. I checked Use DDC and it changed Max Refresh Rate to 120.
The problem seems to be resolved.
Many thanks!
