How do I get rid of Windows Messenger?
I removed it using Add/Remove Windows Components but when I got to the hard drive and click on Program Files there is a folder called Messenger with windows messenger inside and when I try to delete it it says: access is denied then it says
make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use.
I right clicked on it and clicked on proberties and it has the box called read only checked and I wasnt sure if that had anything to do with it so I unselected it clicked apply to all files and folders. and then tried to delete it and it didnt work so I right clicked on it again and the box was selected again im not sure if that means anything or not.

Please help,
Cody

Hi,

To Prevent Windows Messenger from Running on a Windows XP-Based Computer
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;302089&Product=WinMsgr

When you do this your Windows Messenger won't show up in your taskbar
anymore

However if you want to completely remove/uninstall Windows Messenger from
Windows XP can be found at this website made by Jonathan Kay.
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/problem.aspx?ID=7

Follow the steps and the pictures that the website has and you shouldn't
have anymore problems. Uninstalling Windows Messenger can disable some of
the messenger features such as Whiteboard Sharing, and others on MSN
Messenger if you're using that.
