Does anyone have any information on how to get rid of XP
and go back to Win98? This is my computer and I would
like a little more control of how it operates. Thanks

i had win98 for 5 years....switched to winXP and find
more control in XP then 98....sorry you feel this
way...we will not miss you when you go....

you are the weakest link....good bye!

Ross,

If you did an upgrade and choose to save your prior OS you can reverse the
process by using Add/Remove Programs and selecting "Uninstall Windows XP". .
..or words to that effect. If,however, you did not choose that option or did
a clean install, then you need to format the drive and install the old OS
that way.

However, if the computer is new and XP was the preinstalled OS you will be
in violation of the terms of the warranty and will, therefore, forfeit your
right to any support (most likely hardware as well as software). As 98 is no
longer supported by Microsoft, hardware manufacturers are likely to be
following suit and ceasing to offer 98 drivers for their devices. May I
strongly suggest you learn to use XP? You will find that it's far more
intuitive and easy to use than 98 ever was, not to mention more stable.

If by 'control' you mean returning to a plainly inferior OS, you can save
your data files, format your HD from floppy,
and reinstall 98. Have fun going back to frequent crashes, memory leaks and
inadequate multimedia.

If somebody changed the look of XP to "classic" on your machine without
telling you they had done so, and handed it back to you, I doubt that you
would be able to detect any difference between XP and 98 other that the lack
of crashes and the fact that 'system resources' is no longer a problem..
