Getting rid of the favoritelinks in explorer?

Just FYI

Drag the top of the folder tree to the top of the pane. Or replace the
sample links in the Favorite Links with links to places you actually use so
it's no longer useless to you.
 
Is there no way to get rid of that annoying "favoritelinks" windows/box that
sits above the tree-view in explorer? To mee it is absolutely useless and
just steals space from the file-tree.

Or to turn off the entire navigation pane, click the Organize button, and select Layout, and then uncheck Navigation Pane.
