how do i get rid of the log into winodws screen every
time i start my windows 2000 pro. it say admistrator when
i log in and i got it set not to use a password. also how
do i get into the other administrator or guest account,
it keeps coming up with administrator

Control Panel|Users and Passwords, then uncheck the box for "Users must
enter a user name and password to use this computer", restart for effect.

i didnt what you said and now i cant get into windows. i
cant even get into safe mode.. i get an logon message
saying the system could not log you on, make sure your
user name and domain are correct, then type your
password again,letters in password must be typed using
the correct case make sureee the Caps lock is not
accidentally on..

what can i do now cause i cant even get into safe mode
to change it back?

.

Hold the shift key at Windows startup to bypass autologon. An incorrect
username and or password is currently stored in;

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
"DefaultUserName"
"DefaultPassword"

the check is still out of the the box you told me.
holding down the shift key didnt by pass logon screen i
still had to type in administrator to get onto win.2000 i
looked in the registry and in defaultusername there isn't
any valve data it blank and i dont have a defaulpassword
as a valve name there isnt one there.. i do have an
altdefaultusername that has vavle data named
administrator. do i take out the valve data there? if i
do will i get rid of the logon box? and will i still get
into wind. 2000?

The shift key doesn't bypass logon, it simply bypasses autologon. For
autologon to be successful the account password cannot be blank. You'll need
to assign a password to the account you wish to use for autologon.

An alternate method to autologon;
Run regedit.exe, navigate to;
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
edit the Reg_Sz string values
"DefaultUserName"
and
"DefaultPassword"
to reflect the correct username and password of the account you wish to use
for autologon.

Also set
"AutoAdminLogon"="1"

An if it exists, set the Reg_Dword value of
"DontDisplayLastUserName" to 0
found at
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\system
