Getting rid of Brand bios?

Now days there are a lot of those brand computers coming onto Ebay etc. You
know the ones with a "quickrestore disk". Or was that a "quick destroy"
disk?
Anyway, it is possible to insert a clean HD & install XP Pro onto them with
no problems but one thing remains. As soon as you hit the power button you
still get an Acer or whatever logo or flash screen until it fires up the OS.
This screen must be in the bios? Anyone know how to remove it?
It doesn't really matter but is confusing to the new owner if you resell it.
Any ideas welcome.

Most BIOS have the option not to display the splash screen.

In both AOpen and Epox brand motherboards, I've seen an option in the BIOS
to turn off the display of the logo at boot. If you can't find that option,
it probably doesn't exist. Also, you should be aware that certain video
cards also display a logo at boot. I have not found a way to turn that one
off, and doubt that it can be done. -Dave

Yes, I have it also on my ASUS TUSL2-C. You can easily turn off that
logo. Or you can find a hacked BIOS with a new logo or without it
(like for my, www.x-86secrets.com I don't know exactly the site...)

You probably can do it. Unfortunately I don;t know where to tell you to
look, but I remember reading a post (in this newsgroup??) about 3 months
ago maybe about someone who wanted to put his custom bootup logo on
machines he was selling and someone replied with a link to instructions
as to how to do that.

If it's an Intel board, you can use the following utilities:

- Logo Utility (Updated)

This utility for inserting a bitmap into the 8K user flash area in the BIOS
has been updated to support newer desktop boards manufactured by Intel.

LOGO_UTL.EXE, 19kb

- Splash Screen Utility

This utility is for converting a 16-color .BMP file into a format that can
be embedded into the BIOS on Intel desktop boards that support quiet boot.
The image will be displayed during POST. This software utility is provided
as is, with no guarantee of operation.

SPLASH07.EXE, 52kb
Readme: SPLASH.TXT, 2kb

- Intel Desktop Boards Logo Recover Utility

This utility is for recovering the default Intel Desktop Boards Logo that
comes up during system boot. This is a very easy, automated way to recover
the Intel Desktop Boards Logo if it has been replaced by another custom
logo. This software utility is provided as is, with no guarantee of operation.

LOGO_RCVR.EXE, 225kb

The Biostar M7NCD Pro has two different BIOSes---one with and one
without the splash screen. You download and flash the one you prefer.

OK, thanks for all the help.
One in particular is an Acer with a A-Open S58M bios or something.
Might leave it rather than destroy the board I guess?
