Getting Rid of a Yahoo Browser

My daughter has a pc running XP. Because she uses SBC DSL for her
connection, she has the Yahoo browser installed. She's having problems with
it and I want her to switch to IE6 and Outlook Express for her email.

How do I dump Yahoo and replace it with IE6 and Outlook Express.

I prefer these because that's what I've been using for years almost trouble
free.

Thanks.

the first thing is to remember that an isp is just a network connection that you set up, not a program that you have to run.

been trying to get the boss at work to stop using aol for his internet since work already has internet installed.

go to the program files and delete the program it installed (or go to add/remove programs in the control panel)

then go to the appropiate places in the control panel and reselect msie and outlook for browser and mail/newsgroups

i know, this is a bit vague but without much more information, that's all i can say.

Hi,

Your message is very vague, but I think you are referring to text in the
browser. I suppose it's just Internet Explorer but with some additional
text in the title bar.

There are some registry tweaks you can use to remove branding from
Internet Explorer. I put all this in http://hlrnet.com/ieclear.bat

Kind regards

Hans

It will be a two-step process. Step one is to use the Add/Remove Programs
to unload all SBC Yahoo! branded software. I never installed it, and only
examined one system which had it installed. Check for listings under both
SBC and Yahoo!. I have no listings at all under "SBC", or "SBC Yahoo!". My
one listing under "Yahoo!" is for the Yahoo! Messenger; but that one is the
generic Yahoo! client, not the SBC Yahoo! co-branded client.

You may need to use a "Repair" option on MS Internet Explorer after
removing the SBC Yahoo! co-branded software. You may also need to follow
the link in your second follow-up if the SBC Yahoo! brand sticks with the
generic MSIE installation.

Thanks. I know how to remove Yahoo but I need to know specifically how to
then install/activate IE6 & OE.

Thanks. I assume it is the software that was installed from the CD that came
with the kit SBC sent her when she subscribed to their service. I can
uninstall that stuff from add/remove programs, but I need to know what to do
after that, i.e., how to install IE6 & OE. so they work.

Thanks. I know about step 1. But I need detailed help on step 2, i.e., where
do I go to find and then install IE6 & OE.

Hi KIR :-)

If she has Windows XP, she has IE. It is part of the Windows core program
and cannot be uninstalled.

Try the following steps and see if they help:\

Default browser still points to MYIE2.....:

Set the default browser for your user profile:

also…

Try these steps:
Firefox> Tools> Options> General> Default browser> click the "Check now"
button and select "no."

IE> Tools> Internet Options> Programs> check the box "IE should check
whether it is the default browser" The next time IE asks, answer yes.

Go to Control Panel> Add/Remove programs> Set program access
and defaults> Select either Microsoft or Custom, tick the box next to
the other browser
and make it the default browser, enable access to IE
(you may need to be in Admin account to make this change.)
