Paula

I have tried everything I can think of (and what
the "help" menu suggests) to change the desktop
background on one of our office computers. Nothing
works!!!

An ex-employee saved a picture of a cat from a "webshot"
as the desktop background and I cannot get it to change.
(I have managed to get the screensaver to change
though.) I love all animals but I am tired of looking up
this cats nostrils all day............any suggestions?!?!

Thanks for any help.

Hi Paula,

You might like to try this. Type in REGEDIT at Start >> Run and press enter.
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop and on the right hand
pane, look for the value named 'Wallpaper' and double click on it. Highlight
the value data and hit delete. Click on ok and reboot.

If this does not solve the problem, then follow the same procedure at this
location: HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop

NOTE: Editing the registry incorrectly can render the operating system
unusable and should be done very carefully.

Hi Paula,

Have you checked here: Right click the Desktop/Properties/Desktop/Customize
Desktop/Web.

A very similar situation was faced by one of my friends. In his absence,
somebody put a gross picture as his wallpaper by right-clicking in IE and
choosing 'Set as background'. He changed it through Desktop >> right clickhim to set the data as 'none' of the 'wallpaper' key at
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop. Problem solved ;-)
