getting pictures back

i copied some pictures to a new file and they were number 1-20 or so. then i copied some pictures that i took the day before from another file to the new file i created. they were also numbered 1-20. not thinking about it i hit yes to all whenm it axsked if i would like to overright the existing fiel with the new file. i hit yes to all and now i lost all the pictures that i took yesterday. is there anyway to retrieve them?
