Getting on line when I click on Outlook

I am for my sins with Freeserve at home. They only support
Outlook Express. I currently use Outlook Express at home
but wish to use Outlook (xp)so that I can synchronise my
laptop and work stuff with my home computer, and
well...keep things simple.

Problem, when I set the computer (and everything else
imaginable) to have Outlook as my default e-mail program,
my computer simply will not go directly on-line (dial up)
when I click on the Outlook Icon. Outlook fires up but it
doesn't go on line until I click send and receive. I'm
sure its a simple click away to resolve but I just can't
find it. I have tried scheduling an automatic send and
receive etc etc but to no avail.

I did think that it may be because Outlook is more than
just an e-mail programme and people may not wish to go on
line every time...but my work and laptop versions go
straight on line (or at least try to even if I'm not
connected). This has become something of a mission.

What is more, when I do change my computer to have Outlook
as the default programme my Internet Explorer seems to
develop a 'cannot find web page' 'non-connection' problem
when I click on the icon. It's sooooo frustrating.

Any help anyone to cure my frustration.

Adrian

Try changing your connection type to LAN instead of Dial-up and see if that
helps.
