Windows XP Getting my gateway online,,

My internet works,,
I can connect to sites like ebay etc,
But i can't seem to sign in on msn
AVG, etc says it cant get an internet connection yet im connected to the internet.
Im soo confuzzled,,
Does any1 knows what wrong?

What firewall are you using - have you made sure it isn't blocking those programs?


Go into the firewall settings and allow those programs access.

Yea its allowing MSN,,
Its really frustrating lol

Just checked with MSN and I can connect fine so its not at their end.

How are you connecting to the internet - through a router?

Yea,, im wirelessly (If thats a word!) connected to a router in the next room,,
My brother can get on msn on his laptop && hes connected to the same router in the same way,,
The other computer in the house can also connect its just mine that cant!

OK, please test this for me:

Disable the firewall temporarily and try again - if it still doesn't work then disable AVG as well.

As soon as you finish the testing make sure you enable them both again immediately.

Nope its still not working
Msn still says my default gateway is offine.

OK, now test this:

Stop the wireless and connect direct to the router by cable, and reboot your lappy.
