Is there a way to push MSN instant Messenger to my remote
users using the active directory without the end user
having administrative rights? We use MSN-IM for internal
communication and are still trying to update from the XP
version that stopped working when the update to 4.7 was
released. Our users are not allowed to install any
software through GPO's, so.... I have 43 branch locations
across the nation and realy can't visit each one. Is
there a .msi for this software? The users are driving me
nuts!! Please Help.

Robert,

If there is an .msi file for this then you could simply use a GPO to do
this. If there are any problems with doing that then consider using the
"install with elevated privileges".

If there is not an .msi file for this then you might want to consider making
one! You can use some free software to do this. Take a look at WinInstall
Lite ( IIRC ) on the WIN2000 Server CD. I know that I have used it in the
past ( about 18 months ago or so ) to create an .msi file for deployment of
software that - at that time - did not have an .msi file. It worked well.

HTH,

Cary
