From what you've mentioned, it appears to be a 3rd party app causing the
issue.
Any software/hardware changes made prior to the issue?
You could try the following tshooting steps:
1) copy msconfig.exe from XP client (C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries)
to the 2000 server.
2) From the 2000 server, go to start, run, type "msconfig" (w/o the quotes)
or just double-click on the file.
3) Under services tab, select hide all MS services. Click Disable All.
4) Go to startup tab, Click Disable All.
5) Boot to normal mode. (you should be able to).
6) go back to msconfig and re-enable half of the services (the ones you
don't think is causing the issue).
7) Boot to normal mode, and so on....until you isolate what app/service is
causing the bugcheck.
