Getting HP off the taskbar

I'd like to disable the HP "Digital Imaging Monitor" from the taskbar,
but you get a dire warning about buttons on the printer not working if
you do so. All I want is a printer that prints from within programs
using the keyboard and mouse in XP. Is there any harm in disabling its
startup in MSCONFIG?

If I remember correctly this has to do with buttons that are software
programmabl, and by defult are set up to start HP bundled apps.
I have a similar situation with an HP scanner that uses the same scheme.
Yes, I did disable it, and don't use the HP apps.
Since the Fax function is usually dependent on furnished OEM software, You
may encounter problems with it, assuming you have an all in one.
