Running Win2000 with all updates, IE6.
Under Tools, Internet Options, Connections, LAN settings, the box for
Bypass Proxy for Local Addresses is checked. And in my hosts file, I
am using 127.0.0.1 as a local address for web addresses I wish to
block. Yet they are still coming up (advertising, basically), being
displayed.
Is there a setting somewhere else I'm overlooking? Maybe a direct
Registry entry someone know about that I could edit? Is there another
setting besides 127.0.0.1 that could be used?
Is is possible that the proxy and port number setting (I'm in a
corporate LAN) for this network is set up to override the individual
setting for "bypass proxy for local addresses" on my PC?
Thanks in advance for any responses.
