As if getting spam wasn't bad enough, I'm getting it twice over. Every
single email is recieved twice. I'd appreciate it if someone can give ne a
solution.

I have the same problem. Let me know if you find any solution, please.
Thanks
Jan

Most of the time if not all of the time this is caused by either the Anti Virus or Anti Spam filtering enabled on the mail client.

First thing to try is to disable your Anti Virus incoming and outgoing email scanning. Your main AV engine will still protect you. . See if this stops your emails being received as duplicates.

Post back with results.

Note: In some cases like having Norton or MacAfee installed you might need to completely uninstall these apps and then re-install them minus the email scanning feature.

You first: what version of Outlook and what account type(s)?

Thanks Peter,

I'm using Norton firewall and Norton AV with Outlook Express 6. I've had
Norton for quite a few years but the problem (getting everything twice) only
appeared about six months ago. My account is with BlueYonder. I've asked
them about it and they say it's nothing to do with them, which it probably
isn't. But I'm a bit worried about disabling AV in Norton. Does BlueYonder
have AV filtering? If so, I will happily disable Norton AV and/or re-install
it. What do you think?

I am using version 6.00.2600.0000, Type POP/SMTP
with Spam Fighter installed for about year and McAfee antivirus for many
years. All these double emails are only from eBay and Paypal for about 3
months now and last week from my daughter using the same @shaw.ca provider.

So far I can live with this, but it is annoying.

Nothing ever changed except automatic Windows and McAfee updates.

Then you'll need to take the issue up in an Outlook Express newsgroup.

Well now I seem to be getting somewhere for it so happens I've got a PayPal
account just like you but I've got Norton, not MacAfee. Anyway, I'm goingto
ask Microsoft direct and see what they say.

When you want to access newgroups from Outlook you are automatically sent to
Outlook Express. I've never tried accessing Outlook Express directly to see
if I get everything twice, nevertheless I will try it and let you know,

Did I misunderstand your statement that you're using Outlook Express?
