Getting error message.....

When I do the following:

1. Click on Start and select Run.
2. Type in a url, anything...http://www.risoftsystems.com
3. Press OK.

I get an error message - "This file does not have a
program associated with it for performing this action.
Create an association in the Folder Options control
panel."

It is my understanding that after pressing OK, it should
launch the browser. What do I need to do to correct this?
Or am I laboring under a misunderstanding?

unsure which is the better place.)

Hi,
Check your file association.
From http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm

If nothing happens when you click a link:
Open Windows Explorer.
Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Select 'open'.
Click Edit.

"Application used to perform this action" should read:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome
(Check the path to iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use the
double quotes.)

DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have:

#1:
"%1",,-1,0,,,,
#2
IExplore
#3 (blank)

#4
WWW_OpenURL

URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same.

Sometimes it is necessary to uncheck Use DDE.

'DDE Message'(#1) is blank

Application box (#2)says: shdocvw

DDE Application Not running box (#3)is blank

Topic box (#4) says: system
Instead of the following:

Sharon,
Since you've recorded your current settings, try the settings at
http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm Type carefully (or copy and paste) You
can always revert to current settings if the new ones don't work.
