Getting Canon FS4000US to work after re-installing XP?

I had to reload windows XP home recently. Now I cannot get my FS4000US to
work again. I have it attached by an SCSI card but Vuescan will not
recognise any scanner is connected. On installing the scanner software
packages i got a message saying the scanner would not work as the TWAIN
driver was not installed. I have looked at the Canon site but cannot find
any reference to a TWAIN driver so where can I get this from? Do I need to
install Filmget even though I am using Vuescan?

It was some time ago I first installed the scanner so might have forgotten
something vital - I have a bad memory, so any help appreciated!

Thanks

You may have to install ASPI from Adaptec because you are using SCSI. Window
XP and Windows 2000 requires you to install ASPI to communicate with SCSI
devices.

Direct link to download.

This is the link to the Canon support for the CanoScan FS4000US scanner.
Here you can download the latest software for your scanner. You will need
FilmGetFS103.exe and the patch FS4000US_Patch_104.exe.

Don't remember having to install any driver for the card, thought XP
'recognised' it but I'll try what you suggested. maybe I need to install
Filmget if that has the TWAIN software. These processes always baffle me a
bit!

ASPI is not a 'driver' for the SCSI card. That was installed by XP.

ASPI is a programming interface, I allows the scanner to give 'commands' to
the SCSI card to communicate with the scanner hardware.

ASPI stands for Advanced SCSI Programming Interface. Originally developed by
Adaptec. It is a software layer that enables programs to communicate with
SCSI (and ATAPI) devices.

Filmget is the TWAIN driver for the Canon Scanner.

You also must have some sort of Photo Editor with a TWAIN interface.
Photoshop, Photoshop Elements or the free Irfanview are just a few.

DON'T install ASPI untill you've exhausted all other options. My FS4000
was running fine with only SCSI card and the Canon Twain drivers in
place. XP comes with ASPI equivalent functionality. I tried the
Silverfast demo, but it didn't work. "Maybe ASPI will help?" NOT!
Installing Siverfast's ASPI package IRREVERSABLY broke my XP system;
Filmget (and possibly Viewscan) will not run. Now I have to dual boot
to get to an XP setup that works. :(

You should be able to install the SCSI card (does WinXP recognize it?
Do you have the latest driver?) and then install Filmget. I'm using
this exact setup with XP and it works fine.
