I've finally managed to get video from my VCR through movie maker by
realising that I need to disable the automatic media receiver but I am having
trouble getting the matchig audio. It is pretty essential that I have the wo
ogeher and I feel lek I've been through every option in the Video Capture
Wizard. Can anyone help please?

If your main goal is to make DVD copies
of your VHS home movies...you don't need
a computer. A DVD Recorder like the
following example may be worth a look.

However if you plan to edit your movies...
maybe the following links will be useful.
